A story that should be recorded relates to the role the Scientific Centre in Winchester had with the James Bulger murder enquiry in the early 1990s. I don't remember the exact dates, but three of us Andy Walter, Rick Turner and me spent an all nighter with one of the Merseyside detectives enhancing the cctv images showing the child wandering around the shopping centre he was abducted from. In the news, it was said that the FBI had done some of the enhancement work, but I'm not sure whether our results had any publicity - it was certainly rather hush hush at the time. |
