From 1972-74 I was on assignment in the New York Programming Centre, and then moved from there to California (what became the Santa Teresa Lab, but was then in Palo Alto).  At the local post-office on the east coast I left a forwarding address of “IBM Corporation, 1501 California Ave, Palo Alto”.  They obviously passed this on to companies who had me on their mailing lists, and I duly received a catalogue addressed to Mr A J Roskell IBM, 1501 California Ave etc, with an accompanying letter “Dear Mr IBM”.
