  IBM Dictating Machine
  The IBM 0224 dictating machine is essentially a portable tape recorder. It was was produced in 1965.

The recording medium is a continuous 3" wide magnetic tape loop.The loop rotates at a constant speed and the read / write head moves from side to side using a worm gear. The voice recording follows a spiral path on the tape, and has a maximum recording time of 10 minutes. It featured a one-touch instant rewind of 6 seconds, so if the typist was unable to understand a particular phrase she could just rewind a short distance easily.

The 0224 has an internal microphone and jack for an external microphone.
