Forgotten Voice

I cannot remember at which open day, but at one of the days when the media were shown around  Hursley, various flip charts and displays were scattered around the site on the route to be taken, listing the products produced by the Lab.  For some strange reason, a list of software products was on display on one of landings of the old B-block, and I was deputed to stand next to it in case anyone had any questions.

Also on that landing was one of the locked “IBM Confidential” rubbish bins. There weren’t any questions, but I overheard a comment about the locked bin, and sure enough on the local TV evening news there was a picture of the locked bin, with the comment that our work was so important that even the rubbish bins were locked.
