Customer Information Control System
IBM® CICS® Transaction Server is a family of scalable general-purpose transaction processing solutions for z/OS®, VSE/ESA, and distributed platforms. These servers support large transaction volumes with fast, consistent response times and provide high availability and scalability at a low cost per transaction. The very first iteration of CICS came to Hursley in exchange for their PL/I development in 1974. Development has continued since then and is still being developed at Hursley. It has been described as the software that everyone uses but nobody knows about. It is Middleware, operating seamlessly between end users and companies, and between companies, including banks, airlines supermarkets and many more.
